The Chief Instructor (Sensei)
The Chief Instructor of Judo Program is Leonardo Lopes, a 2nd Degree Judo Practitioner, and a certified instructor by the International Judo Federation and an official coach of the United States Judo Institute.
Leo Sensei is a fierce competitior in both the field of Judo (currently ranked 11th in the United States for 75 kilos), and the field of Wrestling (holds an astonishing 111-3 record for 75 kilos, which remains the unbeaten Connecticut record).
Leo Sensei has 7 years of teaching experience and continues his training in Brazil, France and Japan. His dedication to his art and his students is second to none. His deep knowledge of Judo as both an art and a sport is an invaluable asset to the Judo Program and the community, and the Ryokubi Dojo is fortunate to have him as a Chief instructor.
