Competition Teams
Karate Competition Team
A wonderful way for students to test their skill is through competition. Even though Karate was designed solely for purposes of self-defense, there is a huge demand for tournament-style fighting.
Anyone studying for more than one year will be able to join the Team Ryokubi, which will meet separately and train as a team. This team will travel extensively, so a budget will be made to sponsor the entry fee, hotel rooms, mode of transportation, etc. The Ryokubi Dojo is already a member of the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) and participates in World Karate Federation (WKF), and a host of other local tournaments.
Judo Competition Team
There will be two competition teams, Team Elite (A Squad) and Team Triumph (B Squad). The Judo Competition Team is based upon performance. It will be up to Leo Sensei’s discretion, which student moves into which Squad. This offers opportunity for competition to all, while advancing those with true Olympic and Junior Olympic potential.
Team Elite mandates extensive travel to tournaments and special training sessions throughout the country.
Team Triumph will compete locally, with the option of a few national events to improve their experience. Their tournament schedule will be more instructive, rather than competitive.
